偏印 · Indirect Resource

piānyìn · the element that produces your Day Master, of the same polarity

偏印 Indirect Resource, piānyìn, is one of the Ten Gods of BaZi: the name for a stem of the element that produces your Day Master, with the same polarity. For a 辛 Yin Metal Day Master, that stem is 己 Yin Earth.

The Ten Gods are not deities. They are the ten possible relationships between your Day Master and any other stem, named for what that relationship does.

Support that arrives from an unusual angle. Traditionally read as intuition, unconventional learning and solitary study.

How it is worked out

Earth produces Metal, and 己 is Yin against a Yin Day Master, so the relationship is Indirect Resource. Had the stem been 戊 Yang Earth, the same relation with opposite polarity would be 正印 Direct Resource instead.
