NA YIN · 纳音 18 OF 30
平地木 · Wood of the Plains
píng dì mù · the Na Yin of 戊戌 and 己亥
平地木 Wood of the Plains, píng dì mù, is the Na Yin of the pillars 戊戌 and 己亥: a Wood element with an image of its own, one of the thirty Na Yin of the sixty-pillar cycle. Any pillar of a chart, and any day in the almanac, that is 戊戌 or 己亥 carries it.
Na Yin 纳音, the "received sound", gives each pair of pillars in the sixty-cycle an element and an image of its own. It is read alongside the elements of the stem and branch, not instead of them, and the element it names can differ from both.
