城头土 · Earth on the City Wall

chéng tóu tǔ · the Na Yin of 戊寅 and 己卯

城头土 Earth on the City Wall, chéng tóu tǔ, is the Na Yin of the pillars 戊寅 and 己卯: an Earth element with an image of its own, one of the thirty Na Yin of the sixty-pillar cycle. Any pillar of a chart, and any day in the almanac, that is 戊寅 or 己卯 carries it.

Na Yin 纳音, the "received sound", gives each pair of pillars in the sixty-cycle an element and an image of its own. It is read alongside the elements of the stem and branch, not instead of them, and the element it names can differ from both.
